my lab, cosmo (1.5 years old) is now 12 weeks post TPLO surgery. he was doing fanastic until about 2 weeks ago. he took a bad fall at the park and become 3 legged that evening for a good 12 hours. (yes, i know...too much, too fast!) i spoke with the vet tech and she said to see how he did over the weekend. he eventually became toe touch bearing within 24 hours but not back to his state before the fall. he is bearing a little more weight on his leg but becomes limpy here and there. we are back to 10-15 minute walks (he was up to 2 hour walks with short runs before the fall). today, we went to a friend's house that lives on a couple of acres. i think he over did it with the freedom. he is now more limpy (but not 3 legged). i started him on a low dosage of NSAIDS to see if i can get any inflammation down. i plan to give it to him for a couple of days to
see if that helps. when i do range of motion with the "bad" leg, i
don't feel any "popping" and it doesn't seem to hurt him. help! did
i completely mess up his leg. does he just need more time to heal. any advice? has anyone gone through this?
thanks!! |
