Just bought some great shampoo from my vet.. - CLICK HERE for the Pet Manual Forum Home Page
Brian S.
Took Mr. Wilson in for his yearly distemper.... The weather here on the east
coast has been up and down. So he has been scratching alot and didn't react
to the other stuff i was using. So my vet sold me HyLyt shampoo with EFA ,
essential fatty acids. It is sud free and hypo allergenic (sp). Anyhow, I
got him home from the vet and got him in the tub. One use and his coat and
skin are back to like when he was a baby. I can't believe how good this
stuff worked. It has been over a week and he still looks salon fresh! .. not
too bad with price i gues from a vet it was 8 oz's for 9 bucks.

Well two more weeks and then we go for the rabies shot. The vet is good
about that. 1 visit i get hit with the checkup fees and the second visit i
pay 18 just for the shot. I was in there and seen another male ferret. he
was the same age as wilson and half the size. The lady was telling me about
her boy and that he had half of his hair missing from the tail onto half of
his bottom. This was the second time she had him in there. She didn't know
what was going on. I felt bad.

I don't know about anyone else but i think alot has to do with premium food
that you get for them. I was always taught to use 2 mixes in case one was
out and also that way there is a variety.

Hope all is well,

brian s.

Great news for Wilson!! Maybe I'll have to get Kylie some of that
shampoo. Her fur has been really coarse since she was sick a year ago
august, then again in february. might be well worth the try.

Your vet is great to do that with the office visit fees! It's a flat $45
just for my ferret to be seen EVERY time, so double visits for both shots
end up costing a LOT by the time they are finished. I like my vet, but
she's reeeeeealy expensive for exotics.

Hugs to Wilson on that pretty coat he's working on :-)

thanks, actually mine breaks down intot this. $35 for small mammal visit $16
for the shot $4 bucks for disposal and then they got me for 9.50 for the
shampoo.

I guess he knows that if he treats you right you will come back. Wilson is
still young yet so the office visit is only about 10 minutes. It is the
waiting for the reactions 20 minutes before i am allowed to leave.

wow, lucky you. All shots, meds, procedures, etc cost in addition to the
$45......then if you take in TWO ferrets, you pay the basic $45 PER FERRET,
then add in the additional costs. We rarely get out for less then $100
whatever we go for.......

Charles Winters
I've had dogs, cats, horses and now a ferret (actually, its my son's),
therefore lots of experience with vets. No disrespect to that fine
profession, but compared to medical doctors, many vets indulge in the most
outrageous price gouging I've ever seen. And worst of all, these expenses
are not covered by the usual group health insurance. The financial impact
can hurt sometimes, therefore a tendency for pet owners to try home remedies
when they can. - CW
