He managed to bend the wire in his run and go AWOL (absent with out leave).

been searching and ringin round but no luck :o(

Charlie is a bit lost without him.

Can anyone recomend a time we should allow till we give up the search?
Also should we get Charlie a new cage\run buddi???

Any help much appreciated

Have you phoned vets, the police, rescue centres and the like to report him
lost. Where in the world are you? Keep on calling and leave food and a cage
outside for him. Are you sure he is lost and not stolen or taken by a
predator. The run doesn't sound very secure to me if a ferret could 'bend'
the wire. They aren't very strong creatures.

If it's any consolation, Rico took off Saturday mornin so I know how yoo
feel. I did find him in the farthest corner of the yard alongside the
chicken coop (Ain't that like a weasel tho!) I think he was rousted by the
smell first, then hearin the hens inside he just HAD to find a way in.

So think like a ferret and what smells interesting nearby? Noises from
afar? Oh yeah...gotta check them out too.

Calling him all the time helps because you are his comfort thing and if he's
hungry or skeerd he'll be looking for yoo, it's just he himself don't know t
where he is right now!

If yoo have a fun name for him use that. I call Rico with a "Reeecoh
Teeecoh tee-coh tee-coh tee-coh tee-coh" when I have a treat and he usually
comes (and most cases already there).

I hope Hage is just pulling a trick or treat on yoo right now and will be
back in yer arms soon.

Don't forget to post flyers all around your neighborhood and especially
contact any neighborhood children and have them be on the lookout for him -
offer a reward and the kids will get really excited and possibly even go
knock door to door for you. Kids know what goes on in neighborhoods,
especially when there is a cute fuzzy running around, so I'd definitely
contact as many kids as possible - run his picture thru a copy machine and
hand out flyers with his picture and his name on them and your phone number
and say "REWARD if FOUND AND RETURNED". Keep some blankies in his travel
cage outside with his smell on them, some food and water. Hopefully his
little nose will finnd his way home before a predator or thief finds him
first. Personally, I wouldn't give up.......sometimes ferrets are found
weeks after they come up missing - usually because someone has taken them in
tho. But rather than run out and get another ferret, I'd spend my time
seriously looking for the one who is already lost and may possibly be either
freezing, starving to death or being hunted by a predator (or even hit by a
car) - a very frightening place for a little fuzzy who is used to being
loved, warm and fed. Call him using squeaky toys and using his
name.....rattle his treat bag or box...whatever gets his attention. Do it
at all different times of the day and night since you are not sure when he
will be awake. Do it close to your home and several blocks from your home.
Post flyers everywhere - grocery stores, laundromats, light posts,
neighbor's doors, shopping malls........anywhere close to you - within a
mile or two if it's been a day or two. Good luck - let us know if he
finds his way home........

Oh, P.S.: Contact the Humane Society and also any vet offices to ask if
they have heard of a ferret being found too!
