I've been offline for 3 months, yet when I return nothing has changed.
What's going on here? This used to be a friendly place to be.

It's still a friendly place. So, what kept you offline for 3 months?

Zoiks! I assume no people (or ferrets) were hurt..? If lightning is
common in your area, you might consider putting a UPS between the
outlet and your new computer, lest it suffer a similar fate. Either
that or get a laptop.. A cheapo £5 surge protector isn't designed to
stop lightning.
note: it's always slow in apf around the holidays

hey hey!
I remember that tagline from years ago when I first discovered this group! I've
been lurking here for about a month, it's a lot quieter now then then, but it's
really nice to see a familiar face!

Yeah, people come and go but I'm still around. Not sure if that's good
or bad... There are other long-time posters here, and probably some
long-time lurkers as well.

Well, SallyMae and Riley are doing well. SallyMae had a stomach bug and
semi-diarrhea, and lost weight.... but now she's doing well. Riley is a
fluffy fuzz butt and still carries his tail upright like a cat.
On the rat front, Laurie went to the Bridge today. She had pnuemonia and
then aspirated a dose of Baytril. Other than the last couple of week she
had a healthy life and lived just over 2 yrs. For those that don't know, a
rat's lifespan is 2 -3 yrs, on average.
The rest of the zoo is fine. With the cold weather having finally moved in,
everyone is acting like youngsters. Only the dogs have become couch
potatoes. The Rabbits have their winter coats and look more like stuffed
toys than living creatures. Piggie and the mice have plumped up for the
winter. The birds... well, I tend to keep the house at about 70 for them...
but they aren't spoiled ;)

Awww, I'm sorry about Laurie, Julia. :( Poor little rats just don't live
long enough. Dakota was 19 months old when she passed. :( Chloe is doing
surprisingly well. I thought she'd grieve a lot worse, but it was only
noticeable for about two days.
Glad to hear the stomach bug is gone, and that both ferts are doing well
now. :) Mine are just as ornery as ever! Throwing our cds on the floor is
the favorite game at the moment...at least for Stormy. ;-) Kolby is pretty
good, but he's easily pacified with a n-bone chew. :)
And no...of course none of your zoo is spoiled!! ;-) lol

Thanks Holly. At time I wonder why I let myself in for the heartbreak of
short lived fuzzies, but then one climbs my leg, then up my back to sit on
my shoulder and kiss my ear. Need I say more???
But, who can compare toe an ankle kisses? Nothing like having your feet
attacked, chewed on, then having the same area kissed. Pick up the
offending weasel and get lip and nose kisses, a brief cuddle then they are
off looking for more trouble. I wouldn't trade that sort of loving for
anything !

Thank you, Ruth.
A zoo??? What makes you think that? ;) Ferrets, rats, cats, dogs, rabbits,
birds, mice and a guinea pig... and we can't forget the hubby. I don't have
human children, so I have fur and feather kids.

It was like that here once. I had the 2 human kids, so that accounted for
half the menagerie.
Horses, goats, geese, ducks, chickens, hamsters, rats, cats, dogs, ferrets
and whatever assorted wild life that passed through our doors. The kids are
grown, so the herd of critters has thinned out! lol
