Biffa (neutered albino male, about 6) has developed two lumps on his lower
jaw, one either side at the back. He doesn't seem to be having any problems
eating, no bad breath that I can detect and all other habits (sleeping
eating playing) seem to be normal. One poop today was unusual, more noise
than poop, other poops in the pan that *might* be his are a bit loose and
slightly pale.
The 'lump on face situation' has been monitored for about a week - time to
go to the vets.
I'm thinking his glands are up - some kind of low level infection, but he
doesn't feel like he's got a temp.
hmm, any thoughts?

What do the lumps feel like? Are they squishy or do they feel like marbles?
Wishing the best for Biffa,
Holly

These lumps are quite hard, don't seem to be itchy and appear not to be
bothering him at all!
Thanks for the best wishes :o)

Have just found another lump under his left front leg, quite mobile -
hopefully a lymph gland. Definitely going to vets asap.

It sounds like a gland problem. Hopefully it's not lymphoma.

Good luck at the vets. Wishing the best health to Biffa.

Just got back from the vets - apparently Biffa has lumps all over him.
The vet has done a needle biopsy to confirm his suspicions, but he
thinks it is lymphoma :o( Back next week for results.
Ah well, at least the fuzz are all insured...

I'm sorry. I hate lymphoma. I've lost one to that disease.
Prayers sent for your boy. Hugs sent for you.

I'm sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. I was afraid of it
being lymphoma. :( I'll still keep my fingers crossed and keep the prayers
going for you and Biffa. I hate lymphoma. We were able to get some of the
lumps to go down on George with the use of prednisilone, but that was only a
temporary thing for us. Eventually more tumors cropped up on the inside.
:( Please give Biffa snuggles and kisses for me.

Well, the vet gave him a shot of steroid (prob pred) when we went on
Thursday and it looks like some of the lumps are going down now. He
seems to be feeling a bit better as he's been more lively, and has
actually stayed awake after getting out of the cage! (usually he goes
straight back to bed behind the sofa.)
Question: are his lumps likely to be painful if we handle him too
roughly? We've been very gentle with him with none of the usual
rough-housing/ferret bowling/letting him jump off the back of the sofa
stuff.
