I also have a young Peke and am enjoying his very active time. Get off your butt, take him for walkies, play with him, take control of play time. You will build up that relationship with your lovely dog and he will soon enjoy lap time. Grooming also gives you some valuable relationship time. Enjoy your dog and let him enjoy life. As for your boxing him, all professionals do this and it is his safe zone and his little house. As long as he has water then you are on the right track.
