Not true at all. There are some properties in cat urine and feces, but
not ferret. If you or your spouse is pregnant, and changing the
litterbox makes them uncomfortable the non-pregger one should be given
that task.
If you have a cat(s) The soon to be mom can be tested for previous
exposure to Toxmosis. From what my OB is telling me, previous exposure
to toxmosis isn't a problem, it's getting exposed while pregnant.

I'd worry more if you have cats, as well. Make sure they are up to date
with their injections. Worming etc...
I have read it's best for pregnant women not to clean out ferret pans,
while pregnant, but I don't know if there is a specific reason for that.

That's the disease they worry about you getting from cat feces,
especially.
I just had my hubby clean the cat box whilst I was pregnant, to
minimize risk since I had enough issues LOL
But I didn't find anything about ferrets having it, though it wouldn't
surprise me if there's little to no research done w/ them.
Just be on the safe side & have your Significant other clean the
box/cage, you should be good to go. Also let your doc know you have
pets so they know to keep an eye on whatever tests they need to do.
Good luck!

I'm curious Sandy. Pls. tell me where you read about not cleaning out
ferret pans while being pregnant. I know it was one of the first
things I spoke to my OB about. Ferret pans and cat pans.
I was tested for Toxmosis, I had been exposed. Although, I have had
and taken care of cat pans for 18 yrs. the OB said it's not an issue
because it was a prior situation not a new exposure.
I really am interested in where this info came from. I want to
continue the research I have already done on it.

Thanks for the info Cheyanne. I had gotten plenty of hand-outs from
our OB, but they have termed it Toxmosis.
