What I suggest doing is only allowing her acces to rooms without carpeting for now, such as the kitchen. Take her out to do her business as often as you can. Praise her to high heavens when she goes outside, your going to look like an idiot but who care's? Tell her what a good girl she is, and so on. Once she get's the hang of it you should be okay, gradually allow her into carpeted rooms as she grows. When she has an accident on your floor quickly say Ahh and get her outside. Use a key word when taking her out such as "go potty". Be sure to never whack her with anything when she has an accident in your house, it will only discourage her.
If she is still going potty inside more often then you think may be right I think a visit to the vets office is a great idea.
Hope this helps you some. |

| I know it may seem cruel, but you have already received excellent advice re: keep dog off carpets. I had the same problem for years until I listened to an expert. I kept my young dog in the kitchen and yes he was so happy to have his own secure box. We went for long walks, I got fit, and when he performed I rewarded him. At home ensure he gets out every two hours at least. If you see him looking adgitated, that could mean it is walkies time. Use white vinegar on carpet areas where he has performed. You know they will favour any place they have peed on and that can go on for months. Try and put some furniture on that place. Clean as best as you can, but you can never get rid of it. Like a small child, if you give them too much drink, they will pee. After food, take for pee pee walkies. Beforeyou know it, life will be easier. and don't give him human foods or drink, some will cause him to pee e.g. tea. I could go on and on, best wishes. Pixie 29 |

I think I may have a solution for you regarding that dear little dog and the carpet staining problem .
I got the problem solved with my Pekingeses and I now shop with Joybies.com also found at Joybies.co.uk for an assortment of items called Piddle Pants .
Go to the website and look at them . Ching , Chang and Chan really love theirs , and I now have them for my cats too . I can submit a picture of my small Boxer in his too later .

| I know what Tris is talking about, as I had to use them on my Lhasa and my Maltese for a while. After a few weeks they stopped and started waiting to go outside. I know it's frustrating, but hang in there, it'll get better. I think I might have a pair of those pants in a box somewhere if you want to try them before you buy them, just email and let me know. How nice an offer to send a sample of your PiddlePants ! My dogs reacted the very same way and Piddle Pants really "cured" them ! I am using the red Chrismas Piddle Pants now , just for the look . Chang especially gets excited to wear these when we go out . I also bought on that same site a DVD by the UK Dog Whisperer that taught me alot about basic dog training , and I really love watching The Whisperer train on the movie . I hear that he is soon coming out with more DVD's .
All the Best ! |

Hi Guys
Thanks so much for the replies .. It's a bit difficult because of her age (four +) but luckily I'm patient :-) She does seem to have improved .. when I go to work now I leave the patio door open a bit for her to get in from the garden especially now as it's quite cold .. When I come home I let her in, fed and walk her and she now sleeps on my bed at nite .. once I leave my bedroom door open a bit she now seems to go down to the garden .. maybe before she didn't know what to do .. I carried her several times once she started to the garden (wiping all the way :-) and once she had finished I said "good girl" with of course lots of cuddles) Thankfully it seems to have worked for now .. All I have to do now is try and train her for other peoples houses .. Fingers X
I will have some more photos of her soon .. I just need to scan them onto the pc from pics |

| Well done you are doing a fine job and you need a reward the same as your doggy. I bet that within six months you will see a total change and six months on from that she will have all the good new habits. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said that you suspected that she hadn't a clue what to do. Bless her she is doing very well, and as for night time comforts, well it seems both of you are now really at one with each other. Sincerest best wishes for the future and your doggy. Pixie |

| Success round the corner ? Quite possible ! If 4 years old = 28 in dog years . I have known some 28 year old humans who were still able to learn new tricks , so fingers crossed ! |
