I have just gained an 8week old Border Collie bitch, my 1 year old Border Collie dog is fine with her, they play and follow each other around. The problem is food and water, my dog will push her out of the way when she goes to eat or drink from her seperate bowl and he'll growl at her. I have alway been able to take his food off him and things from his mouth so there is no problem there.
I am currently feeding them in different rooms as shes still on 4 meals a day.
Any suggestions of how I can get him used to it and stop snapping. |

| I would have to say, due tp experience with my new puppy and a rescue that I had, is give them time. Your one year old accepts you when it comes to his food, he's just not too sure about the four legges furr ball yet. Keep feeding the way you are, but work in extra cookies when they are together. Have your older dog sit, if he will, before you give him his cookie. When you hand then their cookies give them each their's at the same time, that way there's no animosity between the two in the social climb in the pack. |
