I apologize if this gets posted twice - my email went wacky when I first
posted.
There are a few parrotlet breeders across the US (www.parrotletranch.com for
example) and they show up in pet stores every now and then. I'd strongly
recommend going thru a breeder if you're really interested. Parrotlets are
a bit pricey - around $200 each from breeders and $250+ each from pet
stores. Even tho they're very small, they can be a bit of a handfull. In
fact, very few would recommend a parrotlet as a first bird. Check out that
link above for pictures.

If you pay $200. you'll be sorry. We raise quite a few each year and
frankly they sell at $100-$150 depending upon sex and availibility. Have
two weaned hens right now availible at $100. each.

And how much would it cost to ship to another state?

Depends upon how far and tis moot because nearly every state (legal) has
breeders who can beat the hell out of the $200.-$250. price tag. What state
do you want to find a Pacific Parrotlet in I will see if I can find you a
local breeder.

Whatever, you've made your point - you can beat $200. Thanx anyway, I don't
need your help, I was just responding to someone who I think is in the LA
area. If he wants help, I'm sure he'll post a message.

In the LA area we can find you loads of breeders. If your friend wants to
go a bit further south to Oceanside I have a great friend who has nearly
every kind of Parrotlet being bred in captivity.

++++++++++++++++
Thanks Bob, I spent the afternoon calling and looking around. One
place had them for $380 a pair.It was then that I realized that they
must have been finches ($9.95).
I went to the "Pet Emporium" in nearby Burbank Cal. and the finches
they had there where nearly all missing feathers behind the head and
elsewhere.I mean NO feathers on small areas of the body, just bare
skin, and they were scratching constantly. Not knowing the first thing
about birds,I did know that I would not have enjoyed this situation.
They did look familiar though and I think that really is what I'm
after, although I am a bit "turned off by the buying experience so far.
Thanks for your help.

Where am I getting huffy? How am I misinformed? What pics are you talking
about? I didn't post any pictures, I referred someone to a website that has
pictures.
I shouldn't even respond here as you've proven time and time again that
you'd much rather upset people than say anything useful. Hey, if you think
you know so much, how about contributing to the newsgroup by sharing your
obvious vast knowledge of birds, instead of constantly taking shots at
people. Whatever, Deputy Dog, you are insignificant.

I don't have vast knowledge of birds so how can I share what I don't have?
I hang out here and absorb what knowledge others have to share and have done
so for years. But I do belive I know people quite well, and when I see what
I percieve to be an A**hole, idioit, blowhard I'll sing out. If you don't
like it put me in your bozo bin.

You, Deputy Dog, aren't worth a bozo bin. Quite frankly, you aren't worth
the bandwidth of a response, but what the heck, it's a slow night.
You don't know me at all, your perceptions are way off, by your own
admission you have nothing to contribute and yet you keep posting, and now
you seem to be suggesting that because you've "hung out here for years"
you've earned the right to take shots at anyone you don't know. You call me
a blowhard and yet you're the one that has nothing to share that keeps
berating those you don't know - isn't this the definition of a blowhard?
You call me a know-it-all when all I did was respond to an earlier post.
You chastize me for calling you a name, and then you call me 3 names. All
you've ever done is take shots at people you don't know. You, my friend,
are one class act!!
Whatever Deputy Dog, hang out here all you want, absorb whatever knowledge
you want, sing out all you want, I really don't care. If taking shots at
people you don't know is what you need to do to feel good about yourself,
and if this makes you feel like you're contributing something useful, then I
can only feel more sorry for you. (And since you seem to think this is so
important - I've been "hanging out" in this newsgroup for about 10 years
now. You see my point - big deal, no one cares, myself included!!!)
By the way, and I know I've mentioned this to you before, your petty little
insults would sting a whole lot more if you would just spell the words
correctly.

QT,
This guy sounds just like a couple of trolls we have to deal with in
another NG. Only this one is able to put
