By now many of you may have seen posts about the tornado that ripped through
Howard Voren's Aviary during hurricane Frances. Words cannot begin to
describe the amount of destruction that took place, even the photos don't
fully portray the damage. The magnitude of the devastation is
inconceivable, I cried as I took the photos. The information and photos are
now up on the OPA (Organization of Professional Aviculturists -ed.) web-site
at http://www.proaviculture.com/
Help is needed immediately. A crew of two men showed up this morning with
chain saws and left when they saw what was needed saying it was more than
they can handle. Large, professional crews are needed but are VERY costly,
we must be able to guarantee payment for work to begin. There are still
hundreds of birds trapped in the crushed cages. They are feeding and caring
for them in any way possible.
We are now bracing for the next hurricane, Ivan.
Please help, no amount is too small. Instructions for making a donation are
on the web-site.
Sent by Gloria B. Some of us old timers might remember her?
