ABBY IS HOME! ABBY IS HOME!! Yes, my Solomon Island Eclectus parrot
is home safe & sound tonight! I just got home about an hour ago from
the Minnesota State Fairgrounds with her! Abby was in another tree
about 10 feet off the ground a block west of where we spotted her
yesterday--how I found her was by her making the Eclectus alarm call,
a loud shrill call them make. I think it was either my voice or the
sight of my Blue & Gold Macaw Captain, who I took with again tonight,
as a bait bird, that set her off calling to me.

I was with Karen from the bird grooming service Out On A Trim,
Jennifer who is a member of the Minnesota Companion Bird Association,
and a friend from work at about 6:30 tonight out on the fairgrounds.
We got a six foot ladder from some people packing up their stuff but
it wasn't tall enough for me to reach Abby. Karen came up with the
idea to move the ladder to the base of the tree so that she could grab
the branch Abby was on & pull it down while I stood on the roof of my
car & reached for Abby. It worked! Abby stepped right up for me & I
grabbed onto to her feet as tight as I could, jumped off the car, &
stuffed her into her carrier! Then I started crying & screaming that
we got her! I hugged & kissed everyone there.

Immediately after this some State Fair employees in a tall flatbed
truck came over & were going to put a ladder they had with them in the
back of the truck & let me climb up there, which would have been tall
enough too. They came in response to a call from one of the State
Fair police who stopped by while we were watching Abby in the tree
tonight.

I want to thank everyone who helped look for Abby, who kept her in
their thoughts & prayers, & who allowed this messages about her to be
cross-posted to numerous mailing lists around the Net. You're all a
great bunch of people. Again, thanks!

Abby is sleeping in her cage now & she looks fine. She ate some food
& drank water when we got home. ABBY IS HOME!!

of a tree by standing on my roof before :-/

Next time leave her at home where she belongs. Noisey, crowded, busy
places with open doors are not anyplace to bring a bird.

Kimberlee
LOL.
Not according to any of my birds, who love excitement--the noiser, the
better, and absolutely love to have people oogle them.

Dreamspinner3
That maybe true of Abby but my Blue & Gold Macaw Captain loved it. He
also loved it when I took him with me--clipped & leashed--to the
fairgrounds to use as a bait bird while searching for Abby. He liked
being outside & looking around.
