Sick Budgie? - CLICK HERE for the Pet Manual Forum Home Page
Missy
I have 3 budgies, Peanut, Charlie, and Woodstock. Woodstock appears to be
molting. I say appear because it dosen't seem as if he is loosing alot of
feathers yet he has quite a few pin feathers. He appears to have orange
poop. I haven't feed him anything orange. He still plays, sings and
"bickers" with his brothers just like always. Could he be sick or is it
just him molting. Peanut never had this when he was molting. Any
suggestions, advice would be appreciated.

Are you feeding him any colored seeds or pellets? Have you changed his diet
lately, perhaps a different brand? Toys, or anything colored, vitamins?
Just some thoughts.

They do have a toy that is orange colored. Do you think maybe he is biting
it and ingesting some of it? I took it out of the cage just in case.

Toys for birds should be dyed with vegetable dye so it wouldn't really hurt.
I can understand your concern, though. As for the pin-feathers, my brother
had a parakeet that seemed to always have them on his head. It was rather
odd but he wasn't moulting to the point of say, French moult where he was
going bald. He just always seemed to have pinfeathers on his head. He
lived to a ripe old age :)
