Carrie Lyons
Hi there,
I have a zebra finch who is 8 and a half years old. Is this average? Normal?
I am curious.
This is a male, he is alone since losing his female companion about 18
months ago and seems to be very happy. He has lots of toys and mirrors
in his very large cage.

The last of my breeders just died two weeks ago, she was 13
and had been alone for five years.

My mom had an American Singer canary who died at 16, he spent
THREE YEARS on the bottom of the cage because he was crippled with
arthritis--but he never stopped singing.
