Taming an Untame Adult Budgie - CLICK HERE for the Pet Manual Forum Home Page
Nobody
Does anybody here have any experience with taming an untame adult budgie? I
know that with patience, you can tame the larger birds, but I believe
(correct me if I am wrong) that it is much harder with smaller birds like
budgies, love birds, cockatiels, etc.

I am not in this situation right now; I am asking only because I often see
unwanted adult budgies at animal shelters, in for sale ads, etc. and I think
about adopting one but am not sure if I would end up with a forever-untame
bird or if there is potential for tameness. I have a lot of experience
taming younger birds, but not much with untame adults.

Thanks for any advice.

I got a little budgie as a Christmas present...she was a nervous wreck and
bites like mad. She is antisocial and hates everyone....I tried for a year to
tame her with no luck. I went out and bought another budgie, but this one was
tame. My nasty little budgie is happy (she likes the new bird), the new bird
is happy (He/she likes the nasty bird who is very nice to her), and I am happy
because I now have a delightful; little tame budgie that goes on my finger and
is a delight!
