Canary moved from Florida to Portland - CLICK HERE for the Pet Manual Forum Home Page
pianoharp
Hello all,

A few weeks ago, I wrote and asked for assistance from you all before taking
my canary on the plane from Florida to Portland. I appreciate the helpful
advice.
We had to leave early in the morning, so before the sun was up, I took
Handel from his cage and placed him in the clear plastic box. They said no
substrate, as they said the security folks would have a hard time with that.
I had a large orange wedge inside there. I placed the carrier inside the
soft-sided vinyl one so he could stay warm and dark through the ordeal.
Like you and the vet suggested, he'd had a lot of fortified foods before
hand, and I put no hard food inside the carrier.
His cage is one of the Midwest Collapsible canary cages recommended by
Robirda or someone on the net, can't remember. Anyway, that was stowed in a
suitcase. I put him back in there for the ride in the car between Portland
and the coast where we stayed with relatives for a week til things in
Portland were straightened out.

Anyway, he is acting normally now. I thought he might go through another
molt because of the time and climate difference, but he is doing really
well: singing again and everything.

Thanks again for all your help and advice.
