| Acceptable temperature range for ringneck dove? - CLICK HERE for the Pet Manual Forum Home Page |

My wife and I, along with our cat and our ringneck dove, have just
moved out of an apartment in a place with a fairly moderate climate, to
a very cramped home in a place with a much harsher climate. In our
former residence, we kept the dove indoors. In our current residence,
there really isn't room for the dove's cage inside the house, so we've
been keeping him on the back porch.
The last few days, temperatures in this area have gone over a hundred
degrees F outside. My wife, worried that the dove might not be up to
handling such temperatures, has brought him in for the day, but we'll
have to put him back out again in order to have room to use our bed.
I am wondering what temperature range a ringneck dove can withstand in
reasonable safety and comfort.

Ringneck doves are very adaptable, Ideally, he should be acclimated gradually.
I would be more concerned about predators. Is he in a shaded area? You
can mist him frequently. If he is used to being an inside bird, it will be
harder for him to adapt. Where do you keep the cat?
IMO, he would be happier kept inside, since that's what he is used to.
