Definitely a caique. Friend to all, trusting of everyone, loves new
things and new activities, makes the best of whatever situation it
finds itself in, and loves to play more than anything.

Bob, you sort of beat me to the punch.
I would be a Double Yellow Head Amazon as well, but a female. I'm hand
raised, as sweet as I am (but don't cross, tease, or refuse me what you are
eating or playing with). I'll put on my feathered hat, my "sweet cheeks",
and prance around very dangerous looking! My mate is hand raised as well.
He'll tolerate other flock members and those who provide food, but he will
love, protect, and defend me to the ends of the earth.

They can *plonk* me, but they can't ban me. 'Sides, nothing wrong with a
predator eating its natural (or rather non-native introduced) prey species.
Consider it sweet revenge for the millions of birds killed by cats each
year.
*Gloria carefully steps off soapbox and backs away slowly*
The babies cuuute! The baby in the second pic might be a girl, although
there could be some spots of red on the shoulders that doesn't show up in
the picture. Are they bouncing off the walls yet? (its spelt Turquoisine,
BTW. The Aussies call it the Turquoise Parrot)
A full time position opened up over at the other facility and I'm going to
apply for it. My manager said she'd give me a reccomendation and I've met
the guy doing the hiring. This may impact my bird pet ownership status :( as
I don't think I would be allowed to keep them even if I got my own
appartment (one the hazards of working with endangered species, worries
about disease transmission). I'll email you privately when I hear something.

Um, hey iffen you stay on the islands, you are going to have to smuggle
Westly over, the Teils are fine, the Turk breeders are ok but we both have
been counting the days until little Gloria comes home to take Westly the
beast of the south back south............
As far as cats go, as a breeder of birds, I figure humans are preditors as
well as cats, just bigger preditors and as such have the right to kill any
damn cats near the birds.
(My neighbors do understand, just wish the damn city folks would stop
dumping cats "out in the country" for them nice country folks to deal with)

Yep, I'd be a lovebird. I've had parakeets and for a brief period had a
very mean 'tiel once. The lovebird is by far the most fun and I'm rather
outgoing (a Leo) and can get a bit rambunctious. I'd have to be a brightly
feathered lovebird.

Yeah, I thought that was the case. *If* I get the job I'll find a way to
place the brat. I'd like to keep him with me, but I'm pretty sure that I
read in the contract I saw something about not keeping non program birds,
even in an off-site residence... Don't worry about it, I pretty much counted
on your response. If I don't get the job I'll be picking the twits up in
Aug. as we planned on, no worries.

LOL, maybe I'm just more sensitive to non-native animal issues because I'm
living here. Literally the only native birds I see here (other then the
occasional short-eared owl) are the ones I care for. Every 'wild' bird
around here introduced. And to top it off there are plenty of introduced
predators as well, very bad for the native birds.
