While some people may hate the daily rain and clouds in the sky, I
personally am enjoying them ;-) I didn't see any rain, and I saw
absolutely no rain in the desert. And oh the wonderful green, green
grass ;-)

On a sadder note, my girlfriend and I broke up while I was gone. We
were together for three years--what a waste of time relationships can be
sometimes! So now it's just me, the three ferrets (two of which are
hers!), and my big empty apartment.

Unfortunately, I don't know how it's going to work out with me keeping
the ferrets. I tend to deploy or go TDY quite regularly, and she is
basically unwilling to take care of them while I am gone. And she
definitely will not take them from me. I have asked, and she said that
she can't. So I might have to find them a new home in the future. I
definitely do not want them to go to a shelter, so if it has to happen,
I really hope I can find someone to take them.

And apparently I've forgotten how to read my messages before sending
them... perhaps I meant to say: "I didn't see any clouds, and I saw
absolutely no rain." ;-)

Bryan, I honestly hope things work out for you. I don't know what TDY is,
and where do you deploy to?
BTW, you didn't mention where you lived in case it came to you having to
part with your dear fur kids.

.BRIAN.
Thanks.

TDY stands for Temporary Duty -- it's just a short military trip for one
reason or another away from my normal duty station. Deploying on the
other hand is when you go somewhere for a long time, and you fall under
another units control. I do go TDY quite often, but I can usually get out
of them. Unfortunately I'm on a regular schedule for deploying to the
desert, and those are unavoidable.

I do know someone I work with who has a ferret, so I might be able to ask
him to look after them while I am away. Unfortunately he is in the same
unit as me, and tends to deploy at the same time.

BTW, I live in Georgia. I'm not willing to give them to a shelter. I
really don't want them to go from having freedom and happiness to living
in a cage and not getting the interaction they do with me. So if it comes
down to finding them a new home I will just need to do whatever is
necessary to get them there.

Jason and Holly Harper
Brian,

Before you seriously consider giving up your ferrets, what about fostering
them out to someone? I know there are programs set up to take care of our
soldiers' pets while they're overseas. Maybe a shelter could point you in
the right direction and then you'll be able to get your babies back. :)
I'm sorry about the break up with your girlfriend, but from what I've read
on APF, I think you may be better with out her. Let us know what you decide
about your fuzzies.

Holly
