I was wondering if anyone had adice on the viability of keeping both a ferret a
parrot and a conure as a pet. Would, the ferret spend all day trying to figure
out how to eat the birds? Would raising it with the birds from a kitten do the
trick? Would I just have to make sure that the parrot and conure were out of
reach?

Any advice and comments would be appreciated.

P.S. I am a ferretless ferret person who is dating a parrot person.

Yes, a ferret is like "life" as described in Jurassic Park - it always
finds a way.

We have 4 ferts, free roaming for the most part, 2 fosters that have a
separate
playtime, since you don't want them all to feel like they do belong to one
big
business and then a sun conure and Senegal parrot.
Needless to say the birds time out of the cage, is time in the cage for all
the
fuzzies and vice versa.
My 4 basically hardly notice the bird cage anymore, the 2 fosters (had these
ones
just over 2 weeks), one of them shows a little curiosity as to what is in
it, but not
much.
HOWEVER, the Senegal would give them one sore nose if they got too close
since the minute a nose appears near the bottom she shoots right down and is
ready to defend her territory.
I will go out for the day with my 4 free roaming with no fear of anything
happening and am sure any ferret silly enough to try would come out on the
losing end of the situation.
It definitely is a situation of precautions is required and looking at the
set-up
really close.
They cannot get in, since the cage the birds are in is a large ferret cage.
It was the one that was the dimensions I was looking for and since from
experimenting, the 2 birds are buddies, they share the same cage, making
life that much easier.
Again, caution, caution, caution, because I have no doubt one little slip up
with
one of my ferrets getting at one of the birds outside of the cage and in
seconds
I would be minus one bird.
It is something you must consider closely because you must be able to daily
balance the playtime between them and the only reason it works for us is
because my other half is home all day.

I am a long time ferret and parrot keeper. I have to say do not get a feret
unless you will keep it in another room never to come in contact with your
birds. The ferret WILL try to kill your parrots. They are prey to him. You
parrots WILL be terrified of the ferret.
Regardless of what anyone tells me about their ferrets having zero predatory
instincts, the tamest ferret has instincts that may kick in at any time.
Either don't get a ferret, or find homes for your birds and keep ferrets.
My ferrets lived upstairs when I had them indoors, my parrots are
downstairs. I live in a little old cottage with the stairs behind an old
wooden door. Now my ferrets live outside.
