I'm ba-ack!!
I don't know if I'd told anyone here, but a few weeks ago, something
happened to the userinfo.ini file on my wheezy, 9-year-old, Windows 3.1,
runs-on-coal computer, so I couldn't get online. So, I decided it was high
time for an upgrade. I got some money out of my 401(k) account and ordered a
Dell (Dude!). Dell has a nifty 16% discount for Boeing employees. What with
that, a further 10% discount for online orders, and free shipping on the
computer itself, I got a hefty chunk of savings on a snazzy system. 80 gigs
hard drive; 512 megs of memory; a combo DVD-ROM/CD-W drive; a flat-screen
monitor.
The computer came on Tuesday and I got a cable modem installed today, and
here I be!
I was going to toss the old computer - it's that old - but my Significant
Other of Great Price wants it. The floppy disc drive doesn't work, nor does
the CD-ROM drive; internet access is kaput; nobody supports Windoze 3.1
anymore. But she figures she can use it, so she'll get it with my blessings.
Right now I'm getting used to my new toy. I've got Outlook Express, and I
have no idea how to attach a signature to my posts. I'll figure it out
hopefully.
So - have I missed anything?

Hey Paul, welcome back! :) Quite a transition from Win 3.1, isn't it? :)
Nothing like seeing a webpage load in the blink of an eye, instead of being
able to go and brew a pot of coffee and come back and still wait for it to
load. ;-)

Indeed.
I presume that Russ Prater is still around the group. When I first stumbled
across APF in the mid-90's, he was posting here with a Commodore 128 via
Fidonet; he later got a top-of-the-line system himself. I know how he must
have felt with the quantum leap thingy. Still, you work with what you got.
Thanks for the welcome, guys.
