OT Baby mink make a well visit to the vet - CLICK HERE for the Pet Manual Forum Home Page

I took Keiran and Kenyon to the vet for their first well visit. Good
thing I did too. Kieran has a small eye infection and needs an
ointment applied. Kenyon was dehydrated. As of this morning he is
fine.

The vet advice against using ringers and said I should syringe feed
him water or pedialyte. He insisted the baby could get an infection
and I'd have one more problem. Anybody with more experience than me
(8 yrs) ever have an animal get an infection from using ringers?

The vet advixed bring fecal samples to be sure they didn't have worms.
My experience is limited, but I didn't think mink were prone to
worms.

The first night Kieran was home he was a wild child, chirping loudly,
climbing the bars and gave me several skin breaking nips. I told the
vet to use gloves. He handled Kieran without gloves and told me how
well behaved he was. I guess he just had to settle in.

In real world prices, my vet visit for both mink was $128.00.
