Fun at our house last night! Gilbert was in rare form; probably more
energetic than I've seen him yet - dunno why. He can and does
literally jump at least 18 inches straight up into the air from a
standing start when he gets excited! He often barks when he does it!
He and Kylie chased each other all around, thru tunnels, in and out
of the little nylon clubhouse they have, rolling around and playing
with every bit of energy they had.
When cleaning the litterbox tonight, I went to the hall closet for a
big scoop of clean litter and accidentally closed her in the closet!
Which wouldn't be a big deal, but this is the ferret who is afraid of
the dark and panics when closed in. Less than five minutes pass and
I can't find Kylie anywhere, but I now notice that Gilbert is digging
at the hall closet doorway frantically. Yup, kylie was digging from
the inside and Gilbert was digging from the outside........nothing
like teamwork. What a precious team they are!
Gilbert is getting used to the routine now and was already sitting
and giving me the 'evil eye' on the coffee table where I give meds
and their a/d snack before bed - don't like to give meds on empty
tummies. They had a nice snack and then raced into the bathroom
waiting for me to come take my bath while they push each other off
the stepstool by the bathtub. I finally got there, after cleaning up
after the meds and snack. Uneventful bathtime. Afterwards, however,
when i came out of the bathroom, I noticed a poopie and pee on the
floor in the hallway that i hadn't seen before. Since Gilbert is like
99.9999% litterbox trained, I was really surprised, but it was
obviously left by a little boy. I gently (I swear, it REALLY was
gently) pulled him over to the mess and said "no no, bad Gilbert.
Gilbert potty good boy in the box!" As soon as the word left my
mouth, kylie (who had been watching with great interest) sunk her
teeth into my ankle and wouldn't let go. OUCH!! She didn't like me
disciplining Gilbert! Gilbert, on the other hand, took about two
steps when I let go and let go a HUGE squirty puddle of diarrhea and
pee as if to say "YOU THINK THAT WAS SOMETHING????? Get a load of
THIS!!" So, everybody goes to the cage for timeout while mommy
cleans this mega, mega mess up, cause it's gonna be a while. Well,
being as it was right next to the bathroom, I used toilet paper and
put it in the toilet. Wouldn't you know? When i flushed, it didn't
go down.......but it did come up.....all the way to the top rim of
the toilet. I prayed to the toilet Gods that it wouldn't overflow
(there really wasn't that much in there, as i was using multiple
flushes). Sooooooo, now I'm off to search out the toilet plunger.
Few minutes later, everything is back on track. I go to the cage to
kiss babies and tuck them in, but Gilbert is pouting with his nose
literally pushed into the corner of the cage and he won't look up at
me (as if he were punishing himself). I pulled him out, covered him
with kisses and then he slept on my chest for about half an hour
before I tucked him back in bed. That last half hour made the rest
of the evening alll worthwhile. Geeeeeeze, I love this little guy -
squirty poops and all!
On another front, the vet has now sent of poopies to be cultured so
we an find out exactly what bug this is and why it's not going away.
So, we should know within a week. Wish they would have done that in
the first place a month ago. Whooda thunkit woulda lasted this
long?????? Will let you know as soon as i hear something.

My experience is that girls are definitely more sassy. But I've had four
boys and one girl over the years, so I don't think that's a very good
sampling :-)

I've had three of each and yep, girls are definitely more sassy than boys.
Boys are squishy. You can smoosh boys and you can almost hear them say
"Awww, Mom, come on. Not in front of the other ferts!", but with girls it's
more like squirming and "Aw, geez. Let me down!! I've got things to do!!!"
But that's just my opinion. :)

Thanks, Sandy, surely they will figure it out soon. It's amazing, but
Gilbert seems to be really tuned into Kylie and vice-versa. When one of
them has a problem of any kind, the other one comes running. Last night
instead of standing up on the stepstool when we took our bath, for some
reason Kylie just sat underneath the stepstool. Gilbert was so upset that
he tipped the stepstool over so he could sit next to her. It was too cute.
He pawed and pawed at her before he finally gave up and just turned the
stepstool over. They are sooooo cute to watch together.
