We have three ferrets and have a bengal mix we did some research on
the breed before we got her and found out that one of the companion
animals for them are ferrets. A bengal is a reg dom cat mixed with a
asian wild cat they are very friendly and social but they also like
there space sometimes, our fuzzies get along with our cat no prob, the
ferrets try to groom her all the time it's quite funny to watch
because the ct doesn't really like have a ferret nose in her ear(hehe)
hope this helps BTW we got our cat when she was a kitten just over 8
weeks.

Hmm, I see a curious pattern: Yesterday I was reading an article on
bengals in "Cat Fanciers" magazine. I /just/ have finished watching a
recorded episode of "That's My Baby" on Animal Planet that featured
bengals. Last week bengals came up in a conversation with another cat
lover I know... Uh-oh, I just remembered the content of that
conversation: Bengals are the one type of domestic cat that are not
allowed in Georgia. Very curious though...

What does that mean exactly? That they live together in the wild? What?

Tonks and Siamese are great. I have a Siamese mix that would rather have
nothing to do with the ferrets. My DSH LOVES the ferrets and their food.
;-) And my Persian is curious, but he's old so he can't move fast enough to
get away from them so he prefers to be away from them. So I guess in my
opinion I would suggest you go down to your local shelter and adopt a
kitten. Or if you're really positive you want a purebred, how about going
through a rescue group? I was fostering for a Siamese group before we got
our Persian (three cats is my limit in this house). The last foster we had
loved the ferrets. We were getting ready to take Kolby in for his rabies
vac. and I put him in the carrier, shut the door, and went to pick it up. I
thought to myself "man, you gained weight Kolby!" Then I thought, "well
this can't be right." So I set the carrier back down, opened up the door
and sure enough Kolby wasn't alone...our foster, Lila, was in there as well!
It just depends on the cat's personality on whether or not it'll get along
with your ferrets, not necessarily the breed.

We have a bengal and she loves all the animals in the house. She plays with
the ferrets, chases the other cat around, and will sleep curled up next to
the chinchilla cage (with the chin sleeping next to her and the cage in
between the two of them). We got my first cat when the ferrets were a year
old and he was 6-8 weeks (adopted). I watched them very closely at the
beginning, since we didn't want to declaw the cat, but we also didn't want
them hurting each other. The ferrets ended up being the dominant ones. I
tell ya, it's hilarious watching a 3 lb ferret drag a 13 lb cat by the
scruff. The ferret would always take the cat to his hiding spot for all his
toys...under a chair in the corner.

Hi all
I saw the Bengal ferret discussion going on and just had to drop in.
We have 2 Bengal cats and 8 ferrets, yes just call us insane.
The bengals and ferrets mix incredibly well, sometimes they just "tolerate"
each other but the cats chose to mix with the ferrets, instead of being
aloof. Sometimes they will be sitting in the tubes with a ferret at each
end, as for being held captive in the covered cat litter tray by ferrets
well that pretty much says it all.
It can be very funny to watch cat/ferret kisses and equally funny to watch
"VTO" Vertical take off caused by nibbly ferret syndrome.

So who's insane ? I have 5 cats and 6 ferrets :-)
My experiences are about the same as yours, and through the years the
ferrets have even gotten less interested in biting cat feet.......
