running nose on shitzu - long - CLICK HERE for the Pet Manual Forum Home Page
Susan Ravan
Hi, about a month ago, a little ****zu showed up at my home. I have been
unable to locate the owner and have decided that they dumped this little
angel. But what problems! She has dry eyes (accompanying corneal
scarring), body score of 1-2, a snotty nose and we suspect breast cancer.
She showed up on a Sunday, was at the vet on Monday. So far, we have her on
artificial tears and cyclosporin for her eyes, have gotten her to 9.6 pounds
from 7, and will tackle the breast cancer after we find a way to take care
of that nose! She has been on three antibiotics, a nebulizer and a
bronchiodialator. She still has a snotty nose (green and yellow pus). We
are waiting on a culture and the chest x-ray shows a slightly enlarged heart
with a little fluid on her lungs. My vet is at her wits' end and I am
pulling my hair out. I won't give up on Gracie. My question: has anyone
ever had a dog's sinuses flushed?

If I remember right there was a discussion some time ago about a cat with
chronic sinus infection on the alt.med.veterinary group. You might want to
post this over other and see if anyone there has any suggestions.
