Love Bites Via Billy A little long and odd :} - CLICK HERE for the Pet Manual Forum Home Page
Mean Guy
I need a little help. Again its Billy The Bare Eyed too,
3 years old, Im his Third and final home.
His last people had to get rid of him due to illness.
From the sounds of the bird the old man had a horrible cough. Side note when
the wife and I are frisky he caughs as loud and often as he can. (Its Really
hard to not laugh)
My bird seems to like to bite me a lot harder then most people would like to
be bit. At first I did not allow it as I
did not trust him. I now know he knows exactly how hard he is biting. When
he gets a little to rough for even me
I simply feed him the finger a little just to prove I can and he screams
liks a little girl baby and instantly rolls his head upside down in my hand
as if to say.
"I love you maaaaan" Then he starts the chewing again
(Please note I do not cause him physical pain) And I do it with no emotional
reaction. I just give him the impression that Im playing to rough like he is
but we are still having fun. This is totaly different from our play
batteling. This is when he appears to be biting but he really just crashes
his beak into my fingers very rapidly while looking tough.
In one instance he is rough housing in the other he seems to be bonding with
the finger chewing.

I know this is propably a bad habit but I have a feeling that he wants it to
be a natural part of our relationship.
I actual get the feeling that he needs this interaction. Am I wrong. I know
I know it sounds like a stupid question
who trains theire bird to bite them (Go Figure)
So thats my question. Am I harming the bird?
He does not act this way with others. The only thing I can see that may be a
problem is if I die. Who will let my bird bite them?
Any way I am just going in circles so I will stop now.
Thanks in advance oh yeah one more thing
I dont think he is hot for me as he very much knows the difference between
girls and boys and he loves the ladys.

Yes, he wants to be part of your flock.

The book, "guide to well behaved parrot" is what I recommend for
understanding your bird, a wonderful book.
