Remember me the person who had a bird and didnt know anything about it even what kind it was<lol> Well I now have an Amazon for sure this time a yellow naped. The vet said she is the largest one he has ever seen. Unfortunately she is over weight. And
another thing she has a funny smell and I'm sure the lady I got her from bathed her. Any reason?????? Please Help Barb

Amazons (and Macaws) have a "smell" their own. I don't know if this is what
you mean. Did you ask the Vet?
What did they say about the bird being over weight? May just need more
exercise. The previous owner may not have allowed it enough play time.
Anyway hope you enjoy the bird. Amazons can be quite a handful, but make a
great pet.

I bet you are smelling the 'amazon musk'. I love the smell and think it
smells like flowers. Beautiful it is.
Please please please, before you get any more birds, go out and buy some
books.
Also get a good book on amazon parrots.
Amazons need a low fat diet with lots of vitamin A rich food. They need
fresh fruyit and veg daily, also stuff the chew on like twigs and stuff.
Mine also like to eat flowers in summer time.
You need to read as much as you can so that you can be the best bird keeper
you can.
