Hi Tara
Just writing to tell you that I grought my budgie to Exotic Bird Vet's
today in NDG (thanks for the recommendation, by the way). My bird was
bobbing his head up and down like he usually does this morning and all
of a sudden, he started shaking his head and regurgitating
seeds......4 or 5 at a time...I mean he was tossing them all over. He
did this about 5 times for a total of about 20 seeds. Then he had this
yellowish-brownish liquid on each side of his beak. I called and they
told me I should bring him in. I don't think Corina was there but my
budgie was checked out by Julie Hebert. She was very nice and
professional. She told me that there was liquid in his crop and gave
me some meds to administer twice a day. I also ended up buying some
Avi Cakes and Nutri-Berries. Seems that these products are excellent
for the bird's health. Ended up costing me $104.00 for a bird that
originally cost me about 18 bucks...LOL. My sister-in-law jokingly
said that I could have bought 5 more birds for that price....I didn't
think that was very funny. Ironic how attached we can get to these
little buggers, huh?
Anyway, enough about that. The real reason I'm writing here is to
thank you for referring me to that vet's office. I live in Laval and
it isn't exactly a hop, skip and a jump from here but they are
extremely knowledgeable and really seem to consider the animals they
treat, so that makes it all worthwhile. When asked how I heard of
them, I mentioned your name and they do remember you. I thought that
mentioning your name might give me a discount or something but that
didn't work...just kidding!
This episode was kind of a blessing in disguise because now I know
that my budgie is healthy and had this not happened, who knows when I
would have taken him in for a checkup......I'm glad I did!!
