Hi all,
In late April of last year I asked if anyone had experience with a
new baby & the fuzzies. I got a few responses from here, but a lot
of negative emails off list. Most saying that we might have to get
rid of the fuzzums because of the baby. Well.......................
Joseph Kieran Singh *** was born on Nov. 6th & now two months into it
all is well. Thomas ran away when he cried at first, but now he's the
first one on the bed offering to "inspect" the reason for Ki's
unhappiness with Freddy not far behind him. When Freddy gets near him
he dooks & talks to him & Ki tries to get away from the long whiskers
that are tickling him. Bruno licks his eyebrows & gives him a general
face washing if we let him stay near long enough & the girls as yet
have not been introduced since they have a separate play time & Felony
is a biter sometimes. Larceny tries to climb the baby gate to see
what we have in here, but until I can get her nails snipped off I wont
let her on the bed with the baby. When he gets older & able to grab
stuff like fur, paws, ears etc... then it's going to be more
challenging, but from the first we will supervise & monitor all
interaction closely. We also made sure the crib was un-climable.
Freddy is our most prolific climber & he's not managed it once. We
put it up early so that they'd get used to it & now they totally
ignore it even when he's in it. They just like it when he's on our
bed, so they can come see him. I think of all of them Freddy is the
most interested especially since he sleeps in our room in his cage at
night. He has tried to snorkel under the blanket with Ki a couple of
times, so we make sure we keep booties on him since Freddums is a
"barefoot" nibbler. Thomas fell asleep under a blanket right next to
him the other day, but by the time I got the camera he'd moved so I
missed that shot. We have been getting some pictures of them now that
we have the digital camera it's a bit easier. Not gotten any of the
girls yet, but maybe this weekend.
Bruno is 8 this month & just had his vet appointment yesterday for a
checkup on his insulinoma. His bg was great & they lowered his pred
dosage. He's getting a bit of that pred belly, but since the dosage
was lowered about a month ago he's much more alert & spends a lot more
time running around the house instead of sleeping. He even climbed
the baby gate & that's something he's never tried to do. He has some
kind of growth under his chin that the doc wants to anesthetize him &
take off. She said it would only be a matter of minutes, but since
they're such nosey things it'd be better if he was asleep for it.
Thomas & Freddy have their checkup next week & then we'll get an idea
of how old Freddums is. Felony & Larceny are doing great & are
fixing to move into their girls' room. That's where they have most of
their playtime anyhow, so we're going to just move them in with the
daughter to make it easier. That way no one has to carry Felony in a
sweater to get her from one room to the other. She's fine if you are
just petting her, but she gets nippy if anyone other than her girl
picks her up. Oops! Sorry didn't mean the update to get so long, but
it's been a while. :o)
Take care & Happy Belated New Year

Sorry if it loads slowly. Gonna make them separate albums when I get
more time.

Congratulations, Jinxie!! I applaud you for getting it to work. :) I
think it's different for every family, but I do believe you can have fuzzies
and a baby at the same time. Lots of work though!! I just hope I'll have
smooth sailing when Jason and I decide to have kids. :)
Holly
p.s.
And from now on keep that camera nearby!!! I would've loved to seen
pictures of those moments! Sure would stop people from saying that ferrets
are bad with babies.
