She shakes when she wakes - CLICK HERE for the Pet Manual Forum Home Page
Conan Kelly
Does anyone know anything about this. We have a female albino (white w/ red
eyes). Every time she wakes up she is shivering or shaking. It passes in a
few minutes, but i am wondering if this is common or if I should be
concerned.

Thanks for any help,

Conan Kelly

It's her body's way of warming up. Put some blankies in the cage for her to
snuggle into to sleep so her body temperature doesn't drop so much while
she's sleeping. I have baby blankets galore (thrift store) in Kylie's cage
and she never shakes or shivers.

Ferret Fanatic
it is common for a ferret to shiver after waking, it helps bring their
body temperature back up which lowers while sleeping.

It is normal for a ferret to shiver when they wake up. Their body
temperature drops while they are sleeping, and shivering is their way of
warming up.

Yup.........sounds like it. Kylie has plenty of lightweight and heavier
( in wintertime) baby blankets in her cage and she snuggles way down into
themto sleep and she never shivers when she wakes up. Lots of stretching and
yawning, but no shivering.
