Okay quick history I am mom to three fuzzies, Loki, Ares and Sniffles.Let
the ferts out last night, woke up this morning and two of them are missing.I
have a mArtin's cage that they actually pulled the plastic around the door
off and pushed themselves out between the cage and door. That's the only
answer as the doors are both secure otherwise. Then I find as I'm walking
through the house shaking the treats, that my dryer hose has been pulled
away from the vent that leads right outside.I have no clue where to start.

Take your remaining ferret, harness it up, and start outside
immediately. Shake a treat can, squeak a loud squeaky dog toy everywhere
and be sure to stop and listen. Go door to door to all your neighbors on
your block. Tell them where you live and ask them to keep an eye out for
your ferrets. Make sure you *especially* talk to any and all kids that
you see. They always find animals first and are much more observant.
Show them what a ferret looks like (the one you're taking with you).
Also remember to let them know you're missing TWO, so they know to look
carefully for the 2nd one nearby if they find the first.
Put a small carrier outside your home with bedding, litter, water and
food and leave the door ajar. Preferably used bedding and/or something
you've worn recently that has your scent on it.
Also put your remaining ferret down outside (on the leash and harness!)
and see where *it* goes. Preferably starting where the drier vent lets
out. Maybe it'll take a similar path and/or find it's friend.
AFTER you've done this, make signs and flyers w/a picture of a ferret on
it. -Doesn't have to be a picture of your exact ferret, just something
that shows what a ferret "like yours" looks like (if your ferret is a
sable, any picture of a sable ferret will do). Call local vets, police,
shelters (ferret and non-ferret shelters), and pet stores. Post signs
there too and call back every day. Make sure you leave flyers under
every neighbor's door (don't forget to include your phone number!) and
speak to as many in person as possible. Also post signs for as far away
as a mile to start and keep going further to about 3-5 miles if they
don't turn up.
Also remember to squeak the dog toy and leave food out INSIDE your house
and basement too. They could still be in there.
Having said all that, ferrets are usually found very close to home in a
basement or a neighbor's house or yard or garage within 1-3 houses away.
Check all those areas very carefully.
If for some reason you live in a place where ferrets are illegal, do the
same as above but just say "small pet" instead of ferret if you're
trying to be discrete in your flyers. Anyone who finds the ferret and
sees your sign will know they've got your pet.
I'm writing this quickly without proofreading it first so I apologize if
anything isn't clear.
Good luck,
-Melissa

LOL. Good advice, but I don't think you were witting it *too* quickly
since the ferrets were found 52 minutes before your post :p

A. Because is illogical and hard to read.
Q. Why is top-posting stupid.

Oh goodness. You must be so relieved. I would be hysterical. When it goes
quiet in the house for more than an hour I panic and I only have one Ferret
indoors now. They are so canny. I have padlocks on the doors on my cage.

Soooo happy for you. Give 'em an extra hug while you're closing up that
cage better and fixing that dryer hose!
