woman felt that Rupert was *already* dead. Hence, his (her) being turned
into barbequed chicken would have been painful, but redundant, as there
would have been no suffering. She wrapped Rupert in a towel and placed him
(her) in the bathtub, knowing that the tub would probably be one of the few
things to survive such an inferno, thereby allowing her to retrieve the body
later.

The avian vet who treated Rupert is my avian vet. Really knows what he's
doing.
